My name is Donna Edmonds. I am the band owner and leader for Soca Royals Mas. This year will be our second year participating in the West Indian American Carnival Association Junior Carnival Parade on Saturday, August 31st, 2024. Please review the details below pertaining to the process leading up to the parade. I hope that you will find interest and have your child(ren) participate with Soca Royals Mas.

THEME
The theme selected for this year is “Early J'Ouvert Morning”.
The concept of this year’s theme is to let children participate in the fun and cultural aspect of J'Ouvert since children rarely participate in the festivities.
Sections: There will be 3 sections in this band.
Section 1: Paint the Town
Section 2: Soca Sailors
Section 3: Jamming Jabs

When and where will the WIADCA Junior Carnival be held?
The Junior Carnival will be held on Saturday, August 31st in Brooklyn, New York.
Where will the bands assemble?
The bands will assemble on Kingston Ave and St. Johns Place.
What time will the bands assemble?
The bands will assemble at 8:00 A.M. SHARP.
What time will the parade start?
The parade will begin at 9:00 A.M. SHARP.
Where will the masqueraders be during the parade route?
All masqueraders along with their parent/guardian will be parading behind the DJ’s float. Children/Parents will not be allowed on the float.
What is the parade route?
Bands will assemble on Kingston Ave and St. Johns Place.
From St. John’s Place, they will make a left on Franklin Ave.
From Franklin Ave, they will make a right on President St.
From President St, they will proceed onto the grounds of the Brooklyn Museum.
Will there be bathroom access on the parade route?
There are no bathrooms on the parade route, however there will be bathrooms located at the museum.

All costumes will only be advertised on this website and our social media pages.

When will registration begin?
Registration will begin in July.
When is the registration deadline?
Registration will end on August 3, 2024.
Where can I register?
Registration will be available on Eventbrite's website and through Zelle.
Where can I see the costumes at the time of registration?
Costumes will be displayed on our online gallery and social media pages.
What age should the children be to participate in this band?
Ages 2 to 14
What information will I need to submit at the time of registration?

What does my payment cover?
A FUN AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE!
When should I make a down payment for my costume and is it refundable if I change my mind?
A non-refundable down payment $$ must be paid at the completion of registration.
When is the final payment due and is it refundable if I change my mind?
All costumes must be paid in full by Saturday, August 3rd. Due to the nature of our business, refunds will not be given under any circumstance. All payments made are final and non-refundable. Costumes with a balance passed the due date will be placed back in our inventory and resold to the general public.

You will be sent registration questions to your email address. Please submit your responses back to us as soon as possible.

When do I collect my costume and how will I know when to do so?
Costume distribution will be scheduled for the last week of August. The distribution schedule will be emailed to all masqueraders, and it will be posted on our website and social media pages (Facebook and Instagram). Family and friends will be able to pick up costumes if a parent is unable to do so.
